Now naturally when I found out I had an upgrade available I said to myself, "sweet, I can finally get the iPhone." I mean isn't the iPhone the best phone out there ever in the history of mankind? I'd beg to differ after owning this phone for just a day or so. I digress. After finding out about the upgrade I dashed to my computer and started looking up all the cases and accessories I was going to be able to have. After having a naked phone for over a year I was excited to be able to accessorize with my phone just as much as a handbag or a pair of shoes. I mean seriously even my ancient LG Voyager had cases. So I started bookmarking all the ones I was going to order when I got my phone etc etc.
A few days passed and Mikey went to go get his phone upgraded. He went from a Droid 2, to an ancient Blackberry when that broke, back to a Droid 1, and then he upgraded to the Galaxy S3. After he got out of Verizon our conversation literally went like this:
Mikey: I got my new phone
Me: What'd you get?
Me: What'd you get?
Mikey: The Galaxy S3
Me: What the fuck is that?
I was still set on getting my iPhone at the point. Everyone has the iPhone, everything is made for the iPhone, it's such a convenient phone, I couldn't go wrong. I was fully intending on purchasing the 4S with 16g.
That all changed as soon as I started playing with Mikey's phone.
Now, not for nothing, I've never ever been an Apple person. I've always owned an iPod, and I still think they're one of the best inventions of our times. I treasure my 80g and I will use nothing but the classic iPods to hold my music from this day forth. They're very dependable. That being said, I have owned the iPod mini, the original 80G iPod classic (which actually had an internal error and it really sucked), an 8g iPod nano with video, an 8g iPod touch 2gen, a 32g iPod touch 2gen, and finally an 80g iPod clasic 2gen. The iPod touches were always my least favorite out of all of those. I never used them for apps or anything. I have always just used iPods for music and that's that. I've also never owned a Macbook or an iPad, or anything else that might fall in between. My mom owns the iPad and she loves it, I opted for the Android run Kindle Fire. She owns the iPhone 4 and fucking hates it. We're weirdos. So yeah, if you're an Apple person, I understand why you own the iPhone. I however an not an Apple slave, and will fight that for as long as possible.
If you want a simple phone that's user friendly, the iPhone is for you. If you want to have all the same apps as your friends and be in on the latest tech trends, the iPhone is for you. If you want to continue using all Apple products, the iPhone is for you.
If you want a phone that fucking kicks the iPhones ass, the Samsung Galaxy S3 is certainly for you.
You can read all the specs online, and if you're on the fence like I was, it's worth the time. I even went as far as to compare Mikey's Galaxy S3 to his mom's iPhone 4S side by side.
Clearly, the Galaxy won.
It is the best phone on the market today and Apple knows it. It's thinner than the iPhone, has a better display, is capable of so much more, and has expandable memory, all for the same price of the 4S 16g. Take this from a teenage girl: it is fucking awesome.
I don't care about your SnapChats and Facetime and iOs bullshit. Give me the phone that is going to have wireless charging and has a stylus pen that works, that has a better battery life, and can handle a fall better than the vase known as the iPhone. I want to be able to take pictures, send e-mails, write essays, and use Flash to my hearts content. I want to feel the power of a computer in the palm of my hand.
Give me the Samsung Galaxy S3.
